"Flaps For Jackie" is music by Brian James Griffith for an unrealized album of poems and parables by the legendary and mysterious soul singer Jackie Shane. Their mutual friend, Numero Group producer Douglas Mcgowan made the connection, and Griffith spun an album's worth of field recordings, textures, distant melodies, and subtle oscillations based on Ms. Shane's specification -- "I want the sound of doves flapping... flap... flap". The mercurial Ms. Shane was impressed with the results, but never completed the project, and passed on in February, 2019.
